Enlisted on 5/2/1861 as a Private. On 5/9/1861 he mustered into "D" Co. VT 1st Infantry He was Mustered Out on 8/15/1861 at Brattleboro, VT. Enlisted on 1/3/1862 as a Sergeant. On 2/18/1862 he mustered into "D" Co. VT 8th Infantry. He Re-enlisted on 1/5/1864 and was Mustered Out on 6/28/1865 at Washington, DC.
